Home Sweet Home

My visit with my parents is always a treat. I look forward to our annual March trek to their home in the western part of the state. Little Joe gets to explore the woods, build forts, and help his papaw with barn chores. I relax and enjoy a little respite. I confess I also watch a little Food Network and HGTV, too. Baby Joe just keeps everybody happy with his smiles and cute cheeks. The trip this year was extended due to a death in my family. My mom's brother died at age 57 on his third heart attack. It was sad to see my grandparents lose a child. No matter how old you are, your children are your babies and to lose them at any age must be heartbreaking as a parent. Unfortunately, my cousins had not seen their father in awhile. When he was in the hospital he was never conscious, so he and his family didn't get to say good-bye. Dear ones, kiss and hug your children daily as if it is the last embrace. May they go to bed knowing their parents love them unconditionally. Tell them our hope is not in this earth and the things on it. We were made for one place and one person: heaven and Christ. Love on your spouse as if tomorrow does not exist. Speaking of spouse, I missed Joe so much while away. To be in his presence and sleeping by his side is truly a gift. I love that man!

Adversity Unites Uncommon Comrades

Joe's wife was away for 9 days (yes, 9 days!). You probably noticed the imbalance in the universe those 9 days. Joe's dogs did. They sought comfort by sharing normally unshared ground in the warmth of the sun. Maybe turning the heat down had something to do with it? Nah, I think they thought the end was near.

this beautiful woman is amazingly only 34 years young!

Joe's wife, a.k.a. the most awesomest wife in the world who is so awesome she is 'be-awesome' (ask Rhino for a definition), was born 34 years ago, yesterday. She is due a thousand praises from her husband to whom she honors everyday. This is one. (Don't worry about Baby Joe, he was just getting a bath and loves to lay on his tummy and look off his Mama Joe's lap.)
